Yaroslavl Zoo is a unique, year-round open-air landscape zoo, which will be interesting for all guests due to several reasons:
- More than 450 species of animals live in the zoo in large enclosures designed to recreate their natural habitats;
- The Zoo has a demo training center Kovcheg (the Ark) with contact areas where visitors can have closer acquaintance with animals;
- Exotarrium, an imitation of the ancient city lost in dense tropical forest, with exotic animals from Africa, South America, Australia.
In 2021 the Zoo plans to complete the new project Biopark. The Zoo will become an international center of ecological tourism. The area of the zoo will be expanded up to 200 ha; the new objects will be constructed on the territory: elephant enclosure, hippodrome, natural-historic park, wellness center, Water World complex, theme park “Masha and the Bear”, a hotel on the lake shore.
